What is Standard Sizing?
Standard sizing is made to a specific set of measurements and has additional ease built into the dresses for extra comfort. This extra ease is not reflected in the size chart but if your measurements line up with a specific size, the ease will allow you to wear the dress comfortably without it being too tight. Standard sizing is also returnable.
Pro Tip: If you tried on a standard size and it fit well but was too long, we recommend ordering the same standard size and having it hemmed up. This will ensure that you get the same great fit without having to worry about differences in proportions.
What is Custom Sizing?
Custom sizing is a great option that can reduce the cost of alterations and improve overall fit. It costs the same and takes the same amount of time to make as standard sizing. However, it cannot be returned for any reason because it is made specifically to the bust, waist, hips, height, and hollow to floor measurements provided during checkout.
The overall fit and proportions of the dress will change based on your height and hollow to floor measurements. Therefore, the waistline, bustline, and hemline may end up higher or lower depending on the measurements.
Please note, for certain floor-length styles, you can easily add some extra length at the checkout. Just look for the "Extra Length" option.
Can I order a custom size dress with standard measurements?
We never recommend ordering a custom size dress using the measurements of a standard size dress. This is because standard sizing has some extra ease built into it for comfort (as mentioned above) while custom sizing is cut to the exact measurements that we are provided. The proportions of a custom sized dress can also be a bit different from a standard size because we take your height and hollow to floor into consideration.
